In my early professional career, after finishing graduate studies in Geochemistry at Georgia Tech, I explored environmental chemistry and worked in research laboratories where I designed, oversaw, executed, and published the results of research studies on the photolysis of dissolved organic carbon in natural environments. In 2004, I returned a second time to graduate school, this time at Naropa University for the Master's of Contemplative Psychotherapy program, which integrates Eastern and Western Psychological traditions. While in Naropa's program, I worked with adolescent and young adults in recovery from substance abuse challenges at AIM house and completed my internship at the University of Colorado Multicultural Counseling Center. More recently, and after working in mental health for nearly a decade, I completed a Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD) degree in the fall of 2016.
For seven years prior to the opening of Full Circle I worked in the roles of clinical, research and deputy managing director at a residential Therapeutic Healing Farm community in the foothills of WNC. As an individual, family and group therapist, clinical supervisor and team leader, I have extensive experience partnering with individuals recovering from the full range of emotional health challenges. I am very excited about the success of recent collaborative research efforts, having successfully co-published four papers in peer reviewed journals about the quantitative measurement of the process of recovery.
As a therapist I integrate wisdom and technique from a diverse set of modalities to best fit the needs of the client. However, I mostly operate from a mindfulness and relational analytic base, intertwining the power of humor when appropriate.
