After working on the space shuttle program for 23 years, I looked around and thought “what now?” I worked a wide variety of jobs and even tried a couple of careers before deciding to go back to my first loves - psychology and helping people. So at an age when most people think about retiring soon, I went to graduate school and received my Master’s as a mental health counselor from Asbury Theological Seminary, thirty-eight years after receiving my Bachelor’s in Psychology at Florida State University.
I thoroughly enjoy getting to know my clients and appreciate deeply the uniqueness of each individual. I work with children, youth, and adults who are struggling with their identity, their relationships, their beliefs, their emotions, their past, their work life, their academics, their athletic performance, and their life goals. People I have helped include those with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, grief, ADHD, autism, and addiction.
My approach is to tailor the counseling you receive to the unique person you are. I am an eclectic therapist and as such, I draw from a variety of treatment modalities, including Person-Centered, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Play Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to find the best fit for you. I also offer career counseling and athletic counseling. I especially enjoy assisting LGBTQ+ individuals, people who are grappling with their identity, and the intersection of their belief system and their identity as LGBTQ+. My favorite person to work with is always the person who shares the therapy space with me at any given moment.
I use my over 60 years of life experience to connect with you in a humble, curious and empathetic way. I ensure there's a safe space for you to explore and experiment as we work together. Reach out for a free consultation where you can get questions answered and see if I will be a good fit for you.
