Emotions are a part of the human experience. I often tell my clients, “People aren’t for fixing, cars are for fixing--people are for healing.” Healing can feel like a messy process. Having someone to process with you can be a freeing and supportive experience. Life is complicated, and we don’t have to make it more complicated by going at it alone. I began working as a therapist as a way to connect within a community. The foundation of my therapeutic style is the relationship I have with my clients. Deciding to seek out therapy is a brave and compassionate decision for yourself. Together, we will spend time exploring what helps you heal and grow.
I completed my graduate degree at Western Carolina University in 2016. My work since that time has been in a community agency setting, working with a variety of populations. The majority of my experience has been with elementary and high school aged students. I have my LCAS (Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist), which supports my experience working with substance use and substance use effects on families.
As a therapist, I integrate a variety of modalities into our work. I am trained in EMDR, a trauma-focused treatment that moves therapy from a primarily cognitive experience to a neurological experience. I enjoy utilizing mindfulness and nature-based experiences, working with individuals, groups, couples, families, youth, and LGBTQIA+ individuals. I believe that “humaness’ is important, and use humor and vulnerability when appropriate in sessions.
When I’m not in sessions, I enjoy spending time with my dogs, hiking, watching Netflix, and re-reading Harry Potter.
What we are capable of overcoming continues to astound me. Please reach out for a phone consultation to determine if this feels like a good fit for you.
