You are already helping yourself as you search for a therapist that will provide you with the safety, sensitivity, empathy, and knowledge to assist you in helping you explore your feelings, experiences, and difficulties. Neurobiology research has proven that once you make up your mind and seek help, you are already changing your brain chemistry. I would be honored to be a part of your journey!
My therapeutic focus is on empowering my clients using a Positive Psychology approach that begins with uncovering and/or validating the client’s individual strengths that are often entwined with their cultural, community, and/or family experiences. After identifying your personal strengths and goals, we will collaborate together to work through those identified concerns by integrating a psychodynamic approach and the appropriate evidenced based treatments such as;
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction,
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),
Solution Focused Brief Therapy,
Emotionally Focused Therapy,
EMDR for trauma and complex PTSD,
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy,
Narrative Therapy,
Motivational Interviewing,
Expressive Arts Therapy.
My hope for your therapy is your personal independence that will be maintained by your confidence, self-knowledge, and life skills that will enable you to live the life you want and be the person you want to be!
My Background
Becoming a Clinical Mental Health Counselor is a mid-life passion and adventure that I started three years ago after a long and successful professional career as a registered nurse and homemaker. After raising my children with my husband, and balancing family needs and work life, I had the opportunity to explore a lifelong passion for helping others. I have a bachelor’s degree in Health Administration and have been a registered nurse for over 30 years.
In June of 2020, after completing my final internship II at Full Circle Community Wellness, I was awarded my Associate License as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor and began working at Full Circle Community Wellness. My previous practicum and internship I were at HCA/Mission Hospital’s Emergency Department in the Behavioral Health Intake unit and in the 5N and 6N units at Copestone Psychiatric Hospital. During my practicum and internships, I had the opportunity to work with a wide range of ages and populations of varying demographics with diagnosis such as; anxiety, depression, substance abuse, bipolar, borderline personality disorders, schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorders, self-harm, suicide, trauma, complex PTSD, and psychosis.
