I am so happy to have found my counseling home at Full Circle, where the emphasis is always on movement towards wellness.
I come to counseling with a wealth of life experience and a varied background, all of which informs my counseling style. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology a number of years ago, but as my life took a number of interesting twists along the way, I find myself only now practicing what I began learning in a different decade. I am glad for those experiences, hard as some of them were. I was widowed at an early age, which gave me an understanding of the pain that leads to suicide as well as the pain that those left behind and grieving, may endure. After working in the business world for a period of time, I became a commercial voice-over artist and a stage actress in Chicago and worked in the theater for 20 years. I then moved to western NC, and became certified as a Health Coach and Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (holistic nutrition; specializing in digestive issues and autoimmune challenges, among other things) and opened a practice here in Hendersonville. I began to notice that my clients all voiced difficulties in handling states such as stress, anxiety and depression, and many shared stories of trauma, both past and present. As I started helping those in need to find their way back to health nutritionally, I realized as if a bolt of lightning had hit: It is all one…mind and body - body and mind; inextricably and beautifully linked. I had found my passion and in so-doing had come “full circle” myself, back to my roots.
I work with individuals as well as couples. My counseling style is warm and collaborative, and I use mindfulness-based practices such as ACT and MBCT (a mindfulness-based form of CBT - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) as well as other modalities that might fit a particular situation. I believe that all human beings seek wellness and wholeness. I am here to help you find meaning in your life; to find your way out of confusion, anxiety, fear, depression, and even sometimes, despair, and to walk beside you to support you in your healing journey. It is my privilege and honor to do so.
