I received my Master’s of Art in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Montreat College, in Asheville NC. My passion for helping others started when I worked serving families in poverty to overcome their barriers. Our focus was working on goals to improve their lives. It wasn’t long after this that I realized families needed mental health support but there aren’t many bilingual providers in town. I grew up in Chile, so Spanish is my first language. Although I’ve been living in Hendersonville, NC since 2003, my first visit here was as an exchange student in 1994 when I was a senior in high school. At that time I had the opportunity to study in a different country, learned a new language, and life managed to bring me to Hendersonville. The experience changed m life forever through the wonderful friends and connections I made to very kind and special people. Later, I returned to Hendersonville after I married my husband, whom I met while I was a student here.
I believe everyone deserves to be heard, to feel supported and validated. As a counselor, my goal is to establish a professional rapport with my clients and to provide a safe space for individuals to process those hard curves that life throws us. I want to help you believe in yourself again and rediscover who you are. I want to walk alongside you, as you set goals to improve your mental health. I use approaches such as person-centered, cognitive-behavioral therapy, narrative techniques, arts and manipulatives, and more.
I enjoy working with individuals ages 8 and up. While I specialize in treating individuals with anxiety and depression, I also provide services for families struggling with parenting issues. If you are at a point in your life where finding meaning to your life is hard, I can coach you in that process. If it is important to you, I will apply spiritual beliefs in our session.
I look forward to meeting you and working together in this process. I congratulate you on taking the first step to a brighter season.
