Hi! I am happy you are here and taking the first steps of your journey to wellness! As a therapist, I have the opportunity to create a safe and supportive environment for individuals and families to explore their emotions, challenges, and aspirations. By providing guidance, empathy, and understanding, I can help you navigate your journey toward healing and personal growth through a strength-based, family-centered, and person-centered approach. My therapeutic focus is to empower clients by initiating, building upon, and rewarding the client's individual strengths that tend to overlap with their culture, community, or family experience.
I received my Master's in Social Work from Appalachian State University with an individual and families concentration in 2022. I enjoy incorporating creativity and play into therapy sessions, more so when working with children, which can indeed be highly beneficial and effective. Children often have limited verbal abilities to articulate their feelings, experiences, or challenges, which can make traditional talk therapy less accessible for them. By integrating creative and playful techniques, I can tap into a child's natural language of play, drawing, movement, and expression, allowing them to communicate and process their emotions in a way that feels comfortable and engaging. Moreover, creative and experiential activities offer a sensory and embodied dimension to therapy. This embodied dialogue helps bridge the gap between emotional and physical experiences, supporting overall well-being and self-regulation. Notably, everyone is unique, and not all therapeutic approaches are suitable for every individual. I will adapt the techniques and interventions based on developmental stage, cultural background, and specific needs. It's crucial to create a safe and supportive environment where one feels encouraged to explore and express themselves freely. Overall, my approach encompasses a comprehensive understanding of family systems, effective communication, attachment dynamics, and a wide range of individual challenges. This enables me to provide holistic and personalized support to my clients, helping them navigate and overcome their difficulties.
In addition, I enjoy working with clients in the LGBTQIA+ community and aim to provide an inclusive and welcoming space for clients of all cultures and backgrounds. I am passionate about meeting you where you are and empowering you to gain the tools you need to achieve your goals.
When I’m not working, you can often find me in a park with my dog, reading a book, at a local coffee or tea shop, and at a local thrift shop finding my next DIY project! I’m so glad you’re here and can’t wait to walk with you on your healing journey.
