My journey into the counseling profession grew out of my experiences of working as a Reiki professional and peer support specialist for the past several years. As I worked with my Reiki clients, many of them sought help for symptoms of depression, anxiety, grief, relationship conflict, stress, a sense of disconnection, and unhealed traumas. To better serve my clients and fully integrate the mind, body, spirit connection, I decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Walden University. I also have experience working with the veteran population around PTSD and experiences of military sexual trauma from my volunteer work with Helios Warriors, a non-profit providing holistic services to the veteran population.
My counseling approach is one of meeting you "where you are-as you are.” I believe change and healing occur when emotional safety is established and you are met with validation and total acceptance. I believe people already have all the answers they need to solve their own problems, but sometimes need additional support and guidance to locate their own internal strengths, sources of creativity, and resilience. I believe as a result of life experiences, individuals may develop unhelpful patterns within relationships, jobs, and families that feel frustrating and limiting. Counseling is a pathway that can help you identify and reshape those patterns into ones that are more in alignment with life you want to live. Together, we can explore your inner landscape and find the pathway that is right for you to find your balance and personally thrive.
I enjoy working with a wide variety of individuals and couples in search of meaningful connection and purpose at all stages of their lives. Due to my holistic health background, I approach well-being from an integrative stand point, including mindfulness, cognitions, and environmental influences. When desired, I am also able to incorporate spiritual elements into our work together. My approach with couples’ sources from an attachment-based framework designed to improve emotional connection, communication, and build lasting trust.
